A winter wolf is more akin to a worg than an actual wolf, being of wicked intelligence and cunning.[3]

Description[]

Winter wolves grow to about 8 feet (2.4 meters) in length, 4 feet and 6 inches (1.4 meters) at the shoulder, and weigh around 450 pounds (200 kilograms).[3] They have coats of white fur and eyes that are ice blue.[3]

Combat[]

Using their fur as camouflage, winter wolves lay in wait for prey.[1] When an ambush is triggered, winter wolves encircle their prey and take turns to attack, or attempt to pin it. They can breathe gusts of cold as well as bite their victims. They could also trip their enemies. They were immune to cold and cold magic, but were vulnerable to fire.[3]

Society[]

Winter wolves typically live in packs of around three to five.[3]

Diet[]

Like all wolves, these creatures are a carnivorous species.[3]

Homelands[]

Winter wolves are only known to inhabit cold climates, particularly in forests and plains.[3]

Languages[]

Winter wolves are known to speak their own bestial language,[1] Common, and Giant.[3]

Relationships[]

Winter wolves are sometimes found as allies and guardians of frost giants, white dragons, and other evil arctic beings.[3]
