The Windwrights Guild is a guild of House Lyrandar. It holds the shipping trade of Khorvaire almost completely under its control and is Lyrandar's public face.[1]
Activities[]
Using its fleet of elemental-bound ships and airships for swift transport over land and sea, House Lyrandar is able to outpace and outserve other independent shipping companies.
Membership[]
Heirs of House Lyrandar crew the elemental vessels. However, most members of this guild are not members of the house and are not even necessarily Khoravar half-elves, but are independent captains. To be a member of the guild and fly its flag, it is only necessary for a captain to pass the requisite regular inspections and pay the guild dues. In return, the guild helps captains find cargo and liaise with customs.[1]
Rumors[]
Many rumor that "accidents", such as severe weather, sabotage, and piracy, tend to befall captains working independent of the guild. While they may just be rumors, many clients would rather not chance it and rely solely on the guild for shipping, in turn driving most captains to join the Windwrights. There is one group however who have boldly ignored the rumors, namely the sailors of the Lhazaar Principalities, perhaps due to their long-standing tensions.[1]
