A warlock is a spellcaster who invokes the magical power of their supernatural bloodline.[2][1]

Description[]

Unlike wizards or sorcerers who tap into arcane magic through the use of ritual and spell, the warlock's very blood courses with magical energies. It is these energies that the warlock learns to tap into and invoke to provide a range of effects from flight to powerful eldritch blasts.[2] Warlocks are thought to have links to the fiends of Eberron, including night hags, rakshasas, and even the imprisoned Overlords themselves.[3]

Abilities[]

A warlock does not prepare or spontaneously cast spells as other spellcasters do; rather, they possess a repertoire of magical abilities that they empower by tapping into the magical energies that suffuse their body. As the warlock grows in power, they learn more invocations and more powerful invocations.[1]

A warlock learns to channel the baleful magical energy in their body into a ray that damages foes. As the warlock grows in power, the blasts become more powerful and the warlock can learn to control the blasts in a variety of ways, including shaping it and extending its range.[1]

As the warlock grows in power, their body becomes able to shrug off some damage.[1]

Later, a warlock gains the ability to enter a trance, wherein they heal swiftly and also gain protection against two chosen types of energy.[1]

Experienced warlocks with appropriate training can create magical items, even if they might not technically have the spell needed to create the item.[1]

Society[]

Members of the Lords of Dust particularly sought out warlocks in order to acquire them as agents, but these warlocks often do not know whom or what they really serve.[3]
