Umber hulks are underground-dwelling aberrations with aspects of both a beetle and a large ape.[2] They were used as shock troops by the daelkyr.[3]
Especially large and powerful kinds of umber hulks are known as truly horrid umber hulks.[2]
Description[]
Umber hulks are hulking monstrosities that resemble a beetle with the proportions of a gorilla. They have large mandibles and four multi-faceted eyes, which give them their fearsome gaze and bite attacks.[2]
Personality[]
Despite their fearsome appearance, umber hulks are surprisingly intelligent.[2]
Abilities[]
In addition to their ability to see in the dark, umber hulks are famed for their ability to cause confusion with their gaze.[2]
Society[]
An umber hulk can be found in the service of Chyrassk, a mind flayer member of a cult of the Dragon Below active in the Khyber's Gate district of the undercity of Sharn.[4]
Lands[]
Umber hulks can be found in Khyber[4] and sometimes lurking within the sewers of Sharn.[5]
Truly horrid umber hulks exist in Argonnessen.[6]
