Uldras are small, emotional fey beings who live in arctic wildernesses, serving as guardians of wildlife and fiercely opposing civilization's encroachment on nature.[1] They can be found in regions of the Frostfell.[2]

Description[]

Uldras are small fey who live in arctic wildernesses, coexisting peacefully with nature. They view themselves as guardians of wild animals, particularly against threats from civilization. While they avoid conflict when possible, they fiercely defend wildlife when necessary.[1]

Uldras are 2.5‒3 ft (0.76‒0.91 m) tall, weighing 30‒40 lb (14‒18 kg), with pale blue or white skin and large, colorful eyes that glow softly in the dark. They typically have dark blue or black hair, which lightens with age. Their hands and feet are long and slender, with sharp nails. Uldras favor simple clothing and have a deep love for pointed hats.[1]

Personality[]

Uldras are highly emotional, with moods that shift rapidly from joy to rage to calm. They adore wild animals and often "rescue" domesticated creatures to return them to the wild. Uldras dislike cities and civilized areas, often harassing travelers from urban backgrounds.[1]

Combat[]

Uldras avoid direct conflict but will use ambushes or sabotage to protect their homes and wildlife. They are especially aggressive when civilization threatens their territory.[1]

Society[]

Uldras live in small, nomadic family groups, each with about six members. They make their homes in caves, hollow trees, or icy glacial tunnels. Leadership is temporary and based on strength or loudness. They react strongly to encroachments on nature, sometimes violently. On rare occasions, they experience a “homecoming,” where they feel called to protect a specific natural region.[1]

They reject the idea that the deities Hleid and Iborighu are the same as Olladra and the Keeper. Instead, they believe that these gods have their own true histories and are very important to uldra society.[2]

Lands[]

Uldras live in cold wilderness areas, mainly the Icehorn Mountains and the nearby islands near Icewhite Island.[2]

History[]

Uldras were once devoted followers of Hleid, whose guidance helped control their chaotic nature. However, after Hleid was nearly destroyed by the god Iborighu, most uldras turned away from organized religion. Some uldras now worship Iborighu, hoping to spread an eternal winter, which has given them a sinister reputation.[1]
