Taer Valaestas is the capital city of Valenar.[1][2][3]
Geography[]

Taer Valaestas is located in the south-central part of Valenar, next to the Redwater River.[4]
Government[]
The city is the seat of power for the Tairnadal elf army that conquered Valenar, and contains the austere royal palace of High King Shaeras Vadallia.[1][2][3]
Trade[]
Most dragonmarked houses have some presence in the city, with the exception of House Vadalis, who are banned from Valenar, and Phiarlan and Thuranni, who are shunned by the Tairnadal.[5] Most of the city's trade goes through the Peasant's Market, named because the elf rulers of the city consider trade too mundane to be personally involved with.[2]
House Lyrandar has constructed an airship docking tower in the city.[6]
Defenses[]
Taer Valaestas is heavily fortified, with a thick wall of bronzewood thorns surrounding the city.[2][3] The city's buildings and narrow streets are designed to be resistant to siege weapons and fire, and difficult for invading forces to maneuver through.[1][2]
