Starrin d'Cannith, nicknamed "the Gorgon", was the last patriarch of House Cannith, based in the house enclave in Eston in Cyre.[1][2]
Personality[]
He was known to be intimidating. It was this reputation, and the gorgon symbol of the house, that gave him his nickname.[2]
Relations[]
He'd had two wives; his second wife was Elsabet, with whom he had a daughter, Jorlanna.[3] His only son was Norran.[3] He was the brother of Merrix d'Cannith (senior) and had a cousin, Xerith.[3][4]
History[]
Starrin was highly influential as patriarch, having convinced the warring kingdoms of House Cannith's neutrality and being instrumental in selling warforged to all sides of the Last War.[6] Starrin had big plans for the Steel Gardens of Eston, dreaming the trees might one day be used to extract and refine metals, even adamantine.[5]
He perished at the house's enclave in Eston on the Day of Mourning.[1][4]
Starrin's death caused a succession crisis within House Cannith, as his appointed successor was his only son, Norran, who'd also perished in the Mourning.[3] Three rival claimants have emerged, each exploiting their relations to Starrin: his daughter Jorlanna d'Cannith, his grandnephew Merrix d'Cannith, and Zorlan d'Cannith, son of his cousin and one of his chief financial advisors.[3][4] However, the house still reels from Starrin's loss.[6]
Rumors & Legends[]
Starrin is reputed to have worn the first ring of the warforged in order to understand how the warforged would be developed.[7]
