Sil was a female changeling who worked for Kalarel when he tried to open a rift to Mabar near the village of Winterhaven.[1]

Oh, thank the Sovereign Host! I thought I was dead or worse. My name is Delphina Moongem, and I'm a flower merchant from Winterhaven. I was out here picking violets when I came across the kobolds. I would be most grateful if you untied me and escorted me back home.
— Sil, in the disguise of Delphina Moongem[1]

History[]

Some time after the end of the Last War, Sil was in the employment of Kalarel when he traveled to Winterhaven to perform a ritual to open a rift to Mabar and free Doresain along with his army of undead. In this role, she murdered the local flower merchant Delphina Moongem and took her identity, integrating into the village to the point that all but one of the inhabitants—Eilian the Old, a secret agent working on behalf of Kaius III—would vouch that she was the true Delphina and had been part of the community for as long as anyone could remember.[1]

After taking this identity, Sil acted as a messenger between Kalarel, who was based in the nearby Shadowfell Keep, and a local kobold tribe that had been tricked into following Kalarel. She passed messages between them and kept an eye out for any strangers who came into the area, a task which she would perform for several months. She was also in charge of a nearby dig site where she and several other humans uncovered the skeletal remains of a dragon whose third rib was an important part of the ritual. At some point during their dig, they were set upon by Douven Staul—another agent of Kaius III—whom Sil killed so that he could not report in.[1]

Several days later, on the cusp of Winterhaunt, she would deliver a letter to Ironteeth, who had taken command of the kobolds, informing him that Kalarel believed himself to be mere days away from being able to open the rift. On the way back from this meeting, she discovered a group of adventurers who had been sent into the area to stop the ritual and ordered a group of kobolds to attack them whilst she posed as distressed damsel Delphina, getting herself tied up next to a tree and spilling a basket of irises—which she mistakenly believed to be violets—nearby to complete the ruse. After these adventurers dealt with the kobolds, she pleaded with them to untie her and escort her back to Winterhaven. Whilst in town, when the adventurers were questioning the locals about the Keep, "Delphina" advised them that there was nothing to be found in that area and they'd be better off dealing with the kobold threat.[1]

Shortly after, again in the disguise of Delphina, Sil traveled back to the dig site as the workers, along with their guard drakes, had uncovered the third sinister rib. Taking care to extract it safely, she wrapped this up in silk but was set upon by the same adventurers who had earlier "saved" her before she was able to deliver this to Kalarel. The group dealt with Sil and her cohort and were able to retrieve the rib themselves.[1]
