Sasik d'Vadalis is a member of House Vadalis and the consort of Queen Aurala ir'Wynarn of Aundair.[1][2][3][4]
Relationships[]
Formerly a young noble of House Vadalis, Sasik chose to give up his position within the house and renounce his claims to its fortune when he married Queen Aurala, becoming part of Aundair's royal family.[1][3] Their supporters believe they indeed married for love.[4][5] They have three children:[1][4] Crown Prince Wrogar, Princess Corinne, and Prince Jurian.[4]
However, he remains a firm member of the Vadalis family, retaining the family name, and is brother to the current patriarch of House Vadalis, Baron Dalin d'Vadalis. They still share close family ties.[1][2] Ironically, Sasik is the most well-known member of House Vadalis for marrying Queen Aurala.[2]
Home[]
Sasik lives in Fairhold in Fairhaven with Aurala, Wrogar, and Corinne.[4]
Personality[]
So that nothing he does can bring disrepute on Aurala, Sasik maintains a low profile.[4]
Rumors & Legends[]
As a result of Sasik and Auralia's marriage, the other dragonmarked houses have been known to be distrustful of the relationship between the Aundairian crown and House Vadalis, suspecting they might be benefiting from special treatment or other advantages in its arrangements with Aundair.[1] Certainly, it helped maintain peaceable relations between them in the latter part of the Last War.[6] However, no such advantages exist, for Queen Aurala makes special efforts to avoid all appearance of favoritism toward Vadalis, from herself, the royal family, and its vassals.[1][3] Moreover, House Vadalis has historically had strong bonds with Aundair.[7] Nevertheless, the tension with the houses remains. The marriage is a break with tradition, for the royal families and dragonmarked houses had historically avoided intermarrying in order maintain a separation of governance and commerce.[1] Worse still, Sasik retains the Vadalis name in contravention of the Korth Edicts. Hence, some fear Aurala has plans to withdraw from the edicts and tie Vadalis even closer to the Aundairian crown.[1][5]
