Sarmondelaryx, often referred to as the Angel of Flame and better known as the Red Wyrm or the Bane of Thrane, is an infamous rogue red dragon active in the early history of the Kingdom of Galifar. She is known for her powerful dragonshard artifacts that allowed her to avoid detection and bind souls, granting her immortality. She gained infamy for killing the first Prince Thrane and devastating the nation in Galifar's early days and for targeting heroes of Galifar in subsequent centuries.[2]

Abilities[]

Sarmondelaryx is known to have avoided detection by the Eyes of Chronepsis, and is believed to have been a powerful immortal dragon who consumed both fiends and fellow dragons alike.[2]

History[]

During the early days of the Kingdom of Galifar, Sarmondelaryx unleashed a devastating campaign across Thrane, destroying villages and castles alike. Her most infamous act was at Toran's Field, near the Golden Forest, where she annihilated a host of heroes led by a young Prince Thrane.[2][3] This battle led to the prince's death and the renaming of the Golden Forest to the Burnt Wood.[2]

Beyond her destruction in Thrane, Sarmondelaryx was known for targeting individual champions, slaying the era's greatest heroes before vanishing for decades. Her last documented appearance was a battle with Harryn Stormblade centuries ago, leading most to believe she is long dead.[2]

Rumors & Legends[]

Some claim she made pacts with the Keeper, devouring the souls of heroes to fulfill some dark agreement.[2]

Some scholars suggest that her actions, particularly her victory over the prince, believed to be a champion of the Sovereign Host, contributed to a shift in faith, paving the way for the rise of the Silver Flame in Thrane.[2]

Relationships[]

A nearly immortal dragon, Sarmondelaryx has enemies in both Argonnessen and Ashtakala, having slain dragons and consumed demons. Her primary goal is to increase her own power, but she also revels in manipulating the ancient war between the Conclave and the Lords of Dust. She stirs conflict between these factions, often using them to fight one another while she or her agents escape with whatever prize is at stake. Above all, she enjoys outsmarting these superpowers, making her enemies suffer, and proving her superiority.[2]
