Sand giants are large giants with ties to earth and fire that lived in the vast desert of Xen'drik.

Description[]

The average male sand giant stands around 12 ft (3.7 m) and weighs 2,000 lb (910 kg). Females are generally slightly taller and heavier.[1]

The skin of sand giants range from dark brown to beige tones, while their hair color range from black to blond. Their eyes are usually the same color as their hair. Sand giants wear garments made of light cloth colored to camouflage them while out in the desert. They rarely wear bulky or metal armor as it is inconvenient in the heat.[1]

Abilities[]

Sand giants are impervious to harm from fire and can in fact manipulate heat to create a shimmer that they use to blur their forms in combat. They are, however, vulnerable to extreme cold. They have additional innate magic that givesthem the ability to meld into stone, as well as allowing them to turn creatures into living statues. Sand giants have a moderate ability to burrow through sand and stone.[1]

Combat[]

Sand giants preferred to dig into the sand and ambush opponents. They may first attack with a weapon known as a sand blaster, a long tube which they can use their powerful lungs to blow a cone of sand through at opponents, partially disabling them. When in melee combat they often used a scimitar. Their champions are tactical masters and served as personal guards for the monarchy.[1]

Society[]

Like the other giants of Xen'drik, the sand giants live among the broken ruins of the once-great giant civilization from the Age of Giants.[2] Sand giants dwell in the great Menechtarun Desert of western Xen'drik.[3]

Sand giants lived in ordered societies, prioritizing caution, discipline, and honor. Their settlements are carefully organized with an emphasis on defense, often being built in an isolated location sheltered by geographical features such as mesas. A settlement have 13-45 inhabitants ruled by a monarch. Monarchs are hereditary, with the primary heir being the first-born child of the current ruler. The succession beyond that is determined by a complex system of blood relation and birth order.[1]

Clans of sand giants generally lead nomadic lives, though some live in sand-sculpted dwellings within towering spires emerging from the desert.[1]

Sand giants of the Golden Sargasso regularly trade with armands and the two have civil relations with one another.[4]

Undead sand giants—vampires, mummies, and devourers—rise from the dunes of swirling red sands miles from the cursed Oasis of Blood.[5]
