Morningcrest is a citadel in Thrane[2][3] and a fortress-monastery of the Church of the Silver Flame, one of the largest in the nation.[4]
Location[]
It is situated in central western Thrane on the edge of the Landrise, which forms something of a natural buffer between Thrane and Aundair. Morningcrest lies on an Orien trade road between Athandra and Tellyn.[2][3]
Description[]
Morningcrest is home to a small village, including an inn, a smithy and a mill.[3]
Inhabitants[]
Notably, the citadel serves as the headquarters of the Eternal Dawn, a small order of paladins of the Silver Flame. There are less than 100 paladins in the order, but they are well respected, devoted to their faith and skilled in combat, with archers, riders, sword-fighters all represented.[3]
History[]
During the Last War, Morningcrest was rarely attacked directly, possibly because Aundairian generals thought it too obvious and were reluctant to try. Instead, they focused their efforts on Arolangard and Sentinel Keep to the south and north, respectively. Still, it did not avoid battle entirely either. Nevertheless, the Eternal Dawn paladins chose to patrol the Landrise from Arolangard to Sentinel Keep, usually stopping or discouraging Aundairian scouts and soldiers.[3]
Around Dravago 22nd, 998 YK, wildfires caused by rogue fire elementals on the Fields of Arolan threatened Morningcrest. Although the church ordered an evacuation, Morningcrest's lord refused to abandon the keep, but did release everyone except his immediate family.[1]
