Mel-Aqat is a ruined giant city in Xen'drik, lying amidst the jungles on the eastern edge of the Menechtarun Desert.[1]
History[]
Mel-Aqat was once a giant city that, according to legend, was the prison of an Overlord worshiped by the giants, until through unknown circumstances it was ruined.[2] This is quite true: in the Age of Giants, a group of giants who revered the Overlord named Shudra, the Fleshrender, built their city over their master's prison. They placed the Fleshrender's Ramathene Sword within a shrine there.[3]
For years the city was known only through legends and references in ancient texts, and scholars expected never to find it,[2] until its location was uncovered towards the end of the Last War in an adventuring expedition led by Morgrave University scholar Janik Martell.[1][2][3] Their goal was to recover the Ramathene Sword, but one member of the expedition turned traitor and gave it to the Order of the Emerald Claw.[3]
