Kyuss, was a mighty wizard who bound himself to the Overlord Katashka the Gatekeeper, now imprisoned after joining with his master.[1][2]

History[edit | edit source]

According to legend, Kyuss lived 3,000 years ago as a human wizard whose soul merged with the Overlord Katashka the Gatekeeper, who had temporarily escaped his binding by the Silver Flame, and the combined entity briefly became something like a demigod.[1][2][3]

The combined entity was called Kyuss-Katashka. Before it could come into its full power, the new entity was imprisoned once more.[1][2][3] Legends say, that if he is released again, he will bring forth the final age of the world, known as the Age of Worms.[1][2][3]

Behind the Scenes[edit | edit source]

Kyuss was originally a hero-deity from the Greyhawk setting, who shares many things in common with the one in Eberron.

Notes[edit | edit source]

Kyuss is elaborated on at some length in the Age of Worms Overload document, in the Eberron conversion notes by Keith Baker.[3]
