Kraken Bay is a large bay on the southern coast of Khorvaire, bordering Darguun, the Mournland, and Valenar.[1]
Geography[]
The Kraken Bay is one of the largest bays on the southern coast of Khorvaire.[1]
Several rivers discharge into the Bay, including the Ghaal River of Darguun.[2] The Rushing River used to discharge into the Kraken Bay, but since the Day of Mourning the river has dried up.[3]
The eladrin city of Shaelas Tiraleth and the Cyran town of Seaside used to lie on the coast along the Bay but were destroyed in the Day of Mourning.[4][5][6] The Valenar town of Pylas Maradal is the largest settlement on the coast of the bay today.[1]
History[]
The nation that would become Metrol and then Cyre first arose from the coastal town of Seaside on the shores of the Kraken Bay.[5]
During the Last War, the Kraken Bay was the home of Cyre's navies[7] and the steel krakens sold by House Cannith to Cyre to defend their southern coast. They patrolled an area of 5 to 10 miles (8 to 16 kilometers) from shore and hindered Cyre's enemies from making landings and naval attacks.[8]
However, since the nation was destroyed during the Day of Mourning, the bay has been home to strange monstrosities from the Mournland,[7] while the steel krakens spread further from the bay.[8]
Today the Kraken Bay is used by independent scavengers traveling to the Mournland, and by the Khraal Lords of Darguun to raid shipping.[9]
