Background[]
Edward Bolme stated on his website that he found inspiration for Jeffers from an unspecified video game. He found the servant character in the video game, who was also named Jeffers, compelling as he wanted "a proper servant with a proper name and an entirely improper story." Edward also stated that Jeffers was possibly the most popular and well-liked character in the novel. He also confirmed the death of the character at the hands of Praxle.
