Hippogriffs are winged creatures that resemble a combination of an eagle and a horse.[1] They are used as flying mounts in Khorvaire, usually provided by House Vadalis.[4]
Description[]
Hippogriffs have the wings, upper body, and forelegs of an eagle, while their back half and legs resemble a horse. Their head resembles a cross between the two species.[1]
Roles[]
Travel[]
Hippogriffs are used across Khorvaire as mounts for travelers. They are especially prevalent in Arcanix, where they can be rented to reach the floating towers of Arcanix, and Sharn.[5][6][7]
In Sharn, some residents of the Skyway prefer using hippogriffs to travel around the city, as do the Goldwings, an air cavalry unit of the Sharn Watch.[8][9]
Sport[]
Hippogriffs are the mount of choice for individuals competing in Skyblades jousting in Sharn.[10][11] A hippogriff is also one of the eight mounts competing in the Race of Eight Winds, representing the districts of Overlook and Daggerwatch.[12]
Symbology[]
A hippogriff is the symbol of House Vadalis.[13]
Lands[]
Wild Hippogriffs[]
Wild hippogriffs can be found in herds on the plains of Syrkarn in Sarlona.[14]
