Glaistigs are fey that resemble a woman waist-deep in water. They lurk around rivers, lakes, and streams in Breland, Droaam, the Mror Holds, the Shadow Marches, and Valenar, looking to ensnare unsuspecting creatures. The biggest population of glaistigs are at Mirror Lake, in the Mror Holds. The glaistigs are hunted by the Valenar elf warriors, who often take a glaistig's hooves for trophies.[1]

Description[]

At first glance, a glaistig appears to be a beautiful woman in the midst of drowning. However, upon closer inspection, glaistigs also have hoofed feet, and white furry legs. For their human-looking top half, glaistigs have long white hair, and have fanged teeth, which they try to hide from their unsuspecting prey.[1]

Abilities[]

Glaistigs yearn for blood, and use their fangs to drain creatures of blood after ensnaring them. A glaistig drains blood much like a vampire does, and thus they can be mistaken for vampires. Unlike vampires, however, glaistigs enjoy the water, and have the ability to breathe water. Glaistigs are usually mystically bound to their home water source, and the further away it travels, the harder it becomes to breathe.[1]

Glaistics also have spell-like abilities that they can use to distract or hypnotize their intended victims. They also sing a beautiful song, much like sirens, that will beguile their prey. They will then lure these creatures into their body of water, and will often cast water breathing on them, allowing them to join the glaistig at the bottom of the water for long enough to drain their blood dry.[1]
