Girallons are aggressive, carnivorous apes with four arms. They are incredibly strong and territorial.[1]

Description[]

An adult girallon is about 8 feet (240 centimeters) tall and weighs 800 pounds (360 kilograms). It appears to be a four-armed ape with thick white fur and curved tusks in its mouth, distinguishing it from normal apes. Girallon have sharp teeth and long claws.[1]

Ecology[]

These beasts live in groups led by a dominant adult, who tends to be the oldest of the group.[1]

Habitats[]

Girallons reside in Xen'drik[4] and Q'barra,[5] and on the island of Trebaz Sinara in the Lhazaar Principalities.[6]

Girallons of Xen'drik sometimes dominate dire apes, apes, baboons, and monkeys to act as a girallon king and leader of a troupe.[7][8]

Big-game hunters sometimes bring girallons from Xen'drik to engage in fighting in places like the Glitterdust nightclub of Sharn.[9]

Notable Girallon[]

  • Old Silverclaws is a legendary monster found in Xen'drik. This tremendously large girallon has menaced explorers and the Lords of the Hunt for as long as people have resided in Stormreach.[10]
  • One girallon in Xen'drik who has drank from a pool tainted by giant magic has become modestly more cunning. This girallon king of the Monkey Court has gathered primate sbujects around him over the past few years, and dresses itself in gold and jewelry recovered from nearby ruins.[8]
