Dungeons & Dragons (abbreviated as D&D) is a tabletop roleplaying game (TTRPG), first developed by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson in 1974. It has been published by Wizards of the Coast since 1997. In D&D participants generally each play a character in the same adventuring party while another participant takes the role of the Dungeon Master, who adjudicates rules, describes the world, and runs non-player characters in social, exploration, and combat situations.
Dungeons & Dragons has had multiple editions over the years. The most recent was its 5th edition, which released in 2014. The game has published many supplemental books, detailing alternate rules, creatures, and campaign settings, including Eberron.
