Darkvision is a type of vision that many creatures have, in addition to "normal sight", that allows them to see in even total darkness.[1][2][3]
Description[]
Darkvision allows a creature to discern forms, as in normal daylight vision, but only in shades of gray. Creatures with this ability can only see in the dark up to a certain distance,[1][2][3] typically around 60 feet (18 meters) as in the case of dwarves.[4] Underground-dwelling creatures often possess superior darkvision that allow them to see in the dark at distances twice as far.[5] Darkvision does not function in darkness that is magical in origin.[6]
Creatures[]
Creatures known to have darkvision include drow,[5] duergar,[7] dwarves,[4] illithids, and minotaurs.[8]
