The Bloodsails are a principality on the island of Farlnen in the Lhazaar Principalities.[1][2]

Members[]

The population is mostly elves and eladrin, with some humans, half-elves, and changelings as well.[1][2]

The living leader of the Bloodsails is Prince Shaen Tasil, who has kept the principality stable for over a century. She does not want the title of high prince but she follows the politics of Lhazaar closely, and represents her people when dealing with the other principalities.[1][2]

The undead leaders of the Bloodsails are known as the Grim, a shadow government that mirrors, in a way, the Undying Court of Aerenal, although with less unity: some spend their time in isolation, focusing on their personal projects, while others use their knowledge and power to help their principality. Most of them live in estates, and their members decide who is worthy of joining their ranks.[3]

Activities[]

The elves of the Bloodsails have extensive knowledge of magic, archery, and woodworking, and Bloodsail ships are some of the finest in the Lhazaar fleets. In addition, many members of the Bloodsails have magical powers, particularly in necromancy or faith-based magic. Farlnen is a center for the worship of the Blood of Vol and all the Bloodsails are of that faith.[2]

History[]

The Bloodsails were founded by exiles from the war between House Vol and the Undying Court. After the Undying Court eradicated the House of Vol, they let the allies of the Vol line surrender. Those allies left Aerenal and found a home on the island of Farlnen. Most the elves stayed in isolated communities within Farlnen, while others set up the Bloodsails principality.[2]

About 1800 years ago a disaster in Thelanis caused the migration of many eladrin to Eberron. They settled in Farlnen, where they intermarried with the elves of the Bloodsails, fully embracing their culture.[3]

During the Last War, the Bloodsails were employed by Karrnath as privateers. After the expulsion of the Emerald Claw, the Bloodsails turned to piracy against Karrnath.[2]
