Bahamut is the draconic god of protection and good fortune.[1][2] It is also the name of a constellation in the skies of Eberron.[3] Like all dragon deities apart from the overlord Tiamat, his existence is a matter of faith, not of fact.[4]

Pray with one's deeds, not one's mouth.
— Philosophy of worshipers of Bahamut[2]

Description[]

Bahamut is believed to appear as a long, sinuous dragon with sparkling silver-white scales, and catlike eyes of deep blue or frosty indigo.[1][2]

Dogma[]

Bahamut is thought to be stern and disapproving of evil, while still being endlessly compassionate for those who suffer. His followers believe that aid should take the form of offering information, healing, or refuge for a time rather than his followers taking on the burden themselves.[1][2]

Worshipers[]

The deity Bahamut is worshiped by the dragons of Eberron who follow Thir.[5] Dragon followers revere Bahamut for his wisdom and power.[1][2] The dragons believe that lesser creatures would sully the dragon gods if they were to receive their prayers, which is the role of the Sovereigns.[6]

Dragons consider Bahamut and Tiamat to be archrivals, and his worshipers share enmity for the followers of the dragon god of greed and evil dragonkind.[1][2] Followers of Bahamut undertake quests to either destroy or stop Tiamat's spawn or her minions.[2] They also carry out campaigns against the spawn of Tiamat.[2]

Some Gatekeepers honor Bahamut by putting the constellation Bahamut on their attire, to represent the powers of protection.[7]

Clergy and Temples[]

Bahamut's followers strive to take subtle action and intervene when needed to assist others while doing as little harm as possible.[1][2] Bahamut is believed to not appreciate objects honoring him, so his followers focus more on deeds in his name.[2]

Shrines to Bahamut take the form of simple symbols inscribed onto the walls of dragon lairs.[1][2]

Temples to Bahamut are extremely rare. They are elegant structures with clean and simple lines with simple adornments within.[2]
