Aventus or Aventuus'iana is a legendary civilization from the distant past of Sarlona.[1] It is believed to have sunk into the sea.[2]

History[]

Aventus is generally accepted to have been an ancient advanced civilization on an island off the coast of Sarlona. It is thought to have sunk into the sea in the distant past following a magical cataclysm.[1]

The remnants of the island are now known as the Aventus Islands. Formerly claimed by Khunan prior to the destruction of that kingdom and its rebirth as Syrkarn, Riedra now claims the islands as part of the Rhiavhaar province.[1]

The first Lhazaar sailors that made landfall in Ardhmen did so soon after the end of the Last War by maneuvering past the Riedran vessels that patrol the Aventus Islands.[3]

Locations[]

Several naval bases exist on these islands for the Riedran navy, the Harmonious Sail.[1]

The Riedrans shun areas containing ruins of the lost aventi nation.[4]

Society[]

The name of the kingdom is thought to be synonymous with that of the sorcerer-kings who ruled it, believed to be called the Aventuus'iana.[1] Some believe these sorcerer-kings were actually dragons in disguise.[5]

The humans who escaped the ruin of the nation are thought to have adapted to life underwater and become the aventi.[1][2][6] The aventi attribute their gifts to their patron god, Aventernus.[2] These descendants of the lost kingdom now dwell in small communities in the Sea of Rage between Argonnessen and Sarlona[1][6]
