Behind the Scenes[]
In 3.5 edition D&D, Aquan is the language of water-based creatures such as water elementals, and used the Elven script. However, 4th edition consolidated languages so that all elementals speak Primordial, with the Barazhad script, while the Elven script was named Rellanic.[2] In 5th edition, however, the Primordial languages use their own script.[3]
